Dan Mazzotti's paintings have a unique quality that constitutes the vision of a true artist: that of the artist at one with his theme.
Seminal in their depiction of conflict and growth, the paintings offer a dramatic pattern moving toward an apprehension of sublimity as embodied in the human figure.
Evolving from his European tradition, the subjects of his art have universal appeal: timeless verities of the human heart. Patterns move from innocence through the conflict of experience into sublime unity.
The base of Mazzotti's art can strip an image to its vulnerability, to communicate in a concert of restraint, simplicity, holistic order and mastery of the medium.
Mazzotti, finding the natural articulation of people as paradigm symbols, shows the liberation implicit in form. Mazzotti's minimal style realises both the essential and the decorative. Precision and discipline fuse form and content for expression with power, with joy and with delight; yet often his work is also quietly fascinating.
Rhythm and movement. Dignity and understatement. A celebration
of being Human. Explosive stormy grandeur; controversiality; springtime
elegance.

Dan Mazzotti, born in Ravenna, Italy, 1925, graduated from the Ravenna Academy of Fine Art. Extensive studies of painting, sculpture, mosaics, art history and critical aesthetics ground continuous evolution of his personal style.
Copies of Byzantine mosaics, restored by Dan, have been sent by the Italian Government on a nationwide tour during Australia's Bicentenary celebrations. In his early professional career in Italy Mazzotti mastered restoration work extensively, developing the extremes of skill applied for his personal expression.
Dan migrated to Australia in 1952. From 1954 his freelance art activities in Western Australia included completing various hotel decorations and the frescoed ceiling of the Geraldton Catholic Cemetery Chapel. In 1960 came full-time work for nine years as an illustrator for a graphics art studio.
Between 1968 and 1972, Dan taught painting and sculpture at Adult Education classes for the University of Western Australia's Extension Schools. Many of his paintings, sculptures and a mosaic today reside in the grounds of Aquinas College in Western Australia, where Dan was Art Master for 22 years.
There are now so many highly acclaimed exhibitions, so many commissions, so many examples of Dan's work in Australia and many other countries ......... always unique, always unified, always able to stand alone..... and there will be many more with which our Internet exhibition is proud to be included.
